How do I apply?
To apply for the Victor Adebodun mentoring scheme, please follow the instructions in the application guidelines.
When do applications open and close?
Applications open 30th May 2022 and close 19th June 2022.
When will I hear if my application has been successful?
We aim to get in touch with successful applicants within three weeks of the application deadline.
How long will the mentoring scheme last?
The mentoring scheme shall last for six months.
Is the mentor scheme free?
Yes!
Is the opportunity open to people outside of the UK?
No. The mentoring scheme is only open to those who live in the UK, and those who are eligible to live and work in the UK.
Who decides who is successful as a mentee?
The Foundation shall select the Mentor-Mentee pairings based on career paths and requests.
The Foundation shall make introductions via email. The mentor will be sent an email with the mentees CV/bio and given further context about the goals and aims of the mentee. We will then introduce the mentors and mentees via email so that they can arrange their first meeting.
If successful, how will the scheme work?
The charitable scheme shall give six mentees and mentors an opportunity to build a lasting connection over six months. As a mentee, they’d get 1:1 support with a development goal in mind. As a mentor, they’d get the opportunity to give back to those trying to break into the industry. Through discussion with the mentee, the mentor should assess their current level and identify any gaps in their knowledge.
We ask that the mentor and mentee have a minimum of 4 sessions over six months; the meetings can be in-person, on Zoom or phone based around availability on both sides. Ideally at least half of the meetings should be in-person (Covid restrictions permitting).
Do I need to be Black to apply?
Yes, the Victor Adebodun Foundation and schemes within it, was founded in mind to increase the representation of Black talent within the UK film, TV and creative industry.
